UAE Facilitates Major Prisoner Exchange Between Russia and Ukraine, Releasing 350 Captives

UAE is shining as the country of humanitarian diplomacy and aided for the exchanging 350 captives between Russia and Ukraine

The latest update regarding the significant diplomatic achievement of the UAE (United Arab Emirates) has successfully mediated the exchange of 350 war captives between the two countries Ukraine and Russia. It is confirmed by the given information that both the nations have been involved in exchanging 175 captives from each side. This led to the landmark achievement and global recognition for UAE’s efforts to address the humanitarian impact of the ongoing conflict. 

The total number of prisoners exchanged between these two countries through the negotiations of UAE has reached 3,233. For which the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs had expressed their heartfelt gratitude to both the nations for cooperating and underscoring the country’s commitment to peacebuilding and humanitarian initiatives. The role of neutral mediator played by UAE receives wide acknowledgement, amidst the tense environment that has been shared between Russia and Ukraine for more than a year.

The UAE also succeeds in fostering trust and encouragement for collaborative efforts globally through their open dialogue with these two nations. This mediation follows the series of initiatives that has been done previously since 2024, which includes

  • 24 August 2024 – UAE became the mediator of exchanging 115 prisoners from both Russia and Ukraine and the total number of prisoners exchanged were 1788.
  • 18 October 2024 – Around 2,184 captives were exchanged between these two countries on its ninth mediation.
  • 30 December 2024 – On the tenth mediation, the total number of captives exchanged were recorded as 2,484 in the UAE’s, Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This showcased their influence in the global diplomatic stage and their dedication to peaceful resolution and exemplifies the power of diplomacy in mitigating the consequences of war.
