Twitter’s Iconic Blue Bird Logo ‘Larry’ Sells for Nearly $35,000 at Auction

Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo 'Larry’ was sold for $34,375 after Elon Musk renamed the platform to X, bringing an end to an era.

The iconic blue bird logo that previously represented Twitter has been auctioned for $34,375. The 560 pound (254 kilogram) sign which is 12 feet by 9 feet in size was taken down from 

Twitter’s old San Francisco headquarters after Elon Musk renamed the platform to X in 2023.

RR Auction which specializes in rare collectibles ran the auction but didn’t reveal the identity of the buyer. It is all within a larger sale of Twitter’s memorabilia with Musk also auctioning office furniture, kitchen appliances and signs from Twitter’s history previously.

The iconic bird, nicknamed ‘Larry’ after basketball star Larry Bird, was Twitter’s iconic logo prior to Musk overhauling the platform’s branding. After the rebrand, Twitter’s headquarters also saw dramatic changes, swapping its iconic blue bird adornments for black walls and X-themed meeting rooms.

Some other tech items featured in the auction include an Apple-1 computer and accessories that went for $375,000, a cheque dated 1976 signed by Steve Jobs issued by Apple Computer Co. worth $112,054 and a sealed original 4GB first-generation iPhone selling for $87,514.
