Why is India Seeking Him?
India has been seeking his extradition for his alleged role in facilitating Headley’s operations. He is accused of providing false business credentials to Headley that allowed him to enter India several times and then do reconnaissance for the attacks.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged him with conspiracy and aiding terrorism. Recently, the US Supreme Court turned down Rana’s plea to halt his extradition clearing the path for his coming back to India. The extradition has been approved by the former US President Donald Trump during the visit of Prime Minister Modi to Washington, marking a major step forward in ensuring justice for the mediator of the Mumbai attacks.
