Once again, the persistent rain at Rawalpindi played a spoilsport for the ICC Champions Trophy resulting in the Pakistan versus Bangladesh match being abandoned today. Not a single delivery was bowled.
Umpires called off the match at 10:30 GMT, 90 minutes following the scheduled start time and became the second time wherein the match didn’t take place in a row. Earlier in the tournament, the match between Australia and South Africa also got washed out due to bad weather.

Both teams were already out of the tournament after their back-to-back losses in Group A. Pakistan exited as defending champions sitting at the bottom of the group with just one point after losing to New Zealand and India.
Bangladesh also left without a victory sitting third. Meanwhile, India and New Zealand advanced to the knockouts. With weather as the ultimate concern, conditions at Rawalpindi have frustrated teams and fans alike. The same has led to a loss of competitive spirit in the tournament.
