Travel plans from Mumbai to Goa are made easier as the highly planned Highway 66 connecting Mumbai and Goa is reported to be all set for travel from June 2025. The Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways spoke with the media and reported the update regarding the highly delayed project.
Facing internal stakeholder conflicts, land acquisitions and legal disputes among the other major reasons, the Highway 66 project was put on hold and resumed for a number of years. The Union Minister also spoke about the removal of Physical Tolls and the new toll policy on Monday, saying that, “In the next two years, India’s road infrastructure will be better than that of the United States.”
His statement further gives hope that the once open Highway will be revolutionising travel time and connectivity through the Konkan Region. Minister Gadkari with confidence pressed the news of opening saying, “There were numerous difficulties with the Mumbai-Goa highway. But do not worry, we will complete the road 100 per cent by this June.”
