The veteran Indian actor and filmmaker Manoj Kumar passed away in Mumbai at the age of 87 on April 4, 2025. He breathed his last at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital due to heart complications and decompensated liver cirrhosis which was a secondary cause. His legacy, built on countless years of powerful cinema, instilled national pride and inspired numerous generations.
Manoj Kumar originally named as Harikrishna Giri Goswami was an Indian actor, director and screenwriter who was born on July 24, 1937 in Abbottabad which is now in Pakistan. He was well known for his extreme patriotism and movies with nationalistic themes, earning the nickname “Bharat Kumar” for his legendary portrayals of selfless, country loving nature in Hindi films.
Manoj Kumar was honored with the Padma Shri in 1992 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015 which is the highest honor given for achievements in Indian cinema.
