Gujarat Titans have inducted the Srilankan Right Arm Medium Fast All Rounder Dasun Shanaka to their squad for the rest of the Indian Premier League 2025 season in place of the New Zealand Bowler Glenn Phillips. The team has again welcomed Dasun Shanaka who was a part of the Gujarat team in 2023, playing three matches.

Glenn Phillips who has been an important part of the team has sustained a groin injury from fielding as a substitute against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Although a great victory for the team, Phillips returned back home after he was ruled out of the tournament, with the team staff discussing a worthy replacement.
IPL 2025 marks Shanaka’s second season in IPL as the Sri Lankan only got to play three games with no overs bowled and scoring 26 runs from his time in Gujarat in 2023. The replacement now comes in handy as the Titans are performing well in the tournament and cannot afford any missteps.

While GT’s Kagiso Rabada also flew back to South Africa due to ‘important personal matters’, and the team are yet to find a replacement for the right arm seamer. Gujarat Titans have won four games out of six played and are securely ranked 2, hoping for the position to be tentative and quickly jump into the qualifiers.
