There were no immediate reports of significant damage or casualties, though the shallow depth of the earthquake made it particularly noticeable. Experts argue that such shallow earthquakes generally create stronger tremors. The National Centre of Seismology is monitoring the situation closely, they also gave residents alerts on potential aftershocks.

India is no stranger to seismic activities, especially regions like the NCR, where Zone IV lays under the country’s seismic map with moderate earthquake vulnerability. The tremors followed a fresh episode of previous earthquakes, including the 7.1 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Tibet early this year, affecting northern India. Thus higher preparedness has been called upon in the region.
