After 30 Years, Pokémon Anime Finally Ages Up Its Main Cast – Here’s How

Mega Voltage begins on April 11th in Japan and the time skip mandates a bold new direction for the Pokémon anime.

This is the first time the Pokémon anime is doing a time skip in its 30 year history allowing the teenage cast to grow larger. The upcoming arc of Pokémon Horizons will excite any and every fan for “Mega Voltage” as it introduces a three year jump into the story and ages up the Liko, Roy and Dot. This is completely different from its very own proud legacy where even Ash Ketchum, the main character and hero of the show has stayed 10 years old for his entire life even after traveling the world.

With the passage of time, there has been not just physical growth among Trainers but also more experienced Trainers to take their place. Liko’s Floragato has evolved into Meowscarada and Roy now has the Shiny Mega Lucario and hence their realizable advancement. By far, the most exciting reveal has to be the absence of Professor Friede, leader of the Rising Volt Tacklers. It looks like it was implied in promotional material that his partner, Captain Pikachu is now with Roy hinting at some major shift in leadership.

Since Pokémon Horizons is exploring Mega Evolution, there are rumors this might just be the very opportunity for Ash to make a comeback.
