Slack Restores Services After Outage But What Went Wrong?

The company acknowledged the problem and stated that their engineers were currently investigating the root cause.

After an unprecedented outage that saw thousands of users unable to send messages, load channels or access workspaces, the messaging platform Slack has been restored. While some users still face issues logging in or using the platform, service should be back to normal now.

The outage started around 10:30 AM ET on February 26th, 2025 and has hampered work for thousands worldwide. According to Downdetector over 3,000 reports came in, most of them from the US, Canada, the UK and parts of Europe. The messages describe problems with Pullmon API endpoints, message sending and loading threads.

What’s the Cause of Outage?

The company acknowledged the problem and stated that their engineers were currently investigating the root cause. According to the company, backend service failures affected many features such as messaging and workflows. Whilst most services have been restored now, users may still have some difficulty accessing workspaces or using some tools.

Slack’s status tracker has now suggested that users can clear their cache to have their experience run smoothly. The company has apologized for the downtime and assured its users that the monitoring of the services is already in place to prevent such occurrences from happening in the future.
